Let's Find Joy in the Same Old Stuff

I hope you're reading this while still snuggled in your comfiest pajamas, maybe procrastinating on getting up just a tad longer. Because, why not? Truth be told, I’ve been feeling particularly unmotivated this week, struggling to light that proverbial fire under my rear. But, as with most things adult, that doesn’t mean life just stops.

Today, I’m dropping in with a little nugget of thought that’s been buzzing around my head: finding joy in the same old stuff.

We’ve recently finished a pretty massive renovation on our house, and it has me thinking… I absolutely love all the new parts of our home, but it doesn’t mean I love the old parts any less. Sometimes, the things we’ve had the longest bring just as much joy as the newest, shiniest additions.

It's funny how we rush through our days, eyes glued to what's next, and totally miss the important stuff that’s already right in front of us. It’s so easy to get caught up in “what’s next” and, simultaneously, overlook the now.

It’s like bumping into an old friend at the coffee shop - suddenly, you're laughing about memories you didn’t even realize you missed. That’s the vibe I think we all need a bit more of. It’s unexpected and totally awesome.

So, why am I getting all nostalgic on you? Well, it’s because, both personally and professionally, I am a big believer in the magic of cherishing what we already love. Like that super comfy tee that has seen better days but fits just right, or your go-to mug that’s been through it all with you. (Case in point: I own upwards of 30 mugs and yet drink out of the same one every day.) There's a special kind of magic in things that have stuck around.

So this week, I’m giving you a mission, should you choose to accept it: reignite a spark with something you’ve forgotten. Let’s make it our little project to find joy in the familiar corners of our lives.

I know, it might sound a bit odd coming from someone who’s in the business of selling you things, but here’s the truth: it’s not just about the new finds or the next big thing. It’s about cherishing what already brings us joy, rediscovering the love for the familiar, and sometimes, yes, finding that new piece that speaks to our hearts. So, whether you’re falling back in love with an old favorite or you're in search of something new that feels like it’s been yours all along, I’m here for it. Let’s make space for both.

Cheers to rediscovering what sparks our joy!
