Cheers to the man behind the scenes of the Roost!

This week, I'm going to celebrate one of the unsung heroes of Green Roost...my husband Chris.

I'll be completely honest with you, I'm going to catch a lot of grief for this email. As much as his job puts him in the spotlight, he doesn't love being the center of attention. But I can say without hesitation that Green Roost wouldn't be what it is today without him.

I specifically chose to celebrate him this week, because this Sunday, he graduates with his Masters in Public Safety from The University of Virginia (aka my alma matter). We will officially be a double-Hoo household!

Over the past two years, he's been going to graduate school, while also working, dad-ing and husband-ing full time. Any of those things on their own are a lot to handle, but combined it seems almost impossible.

I should also mention that in March, after a 25+ year career in law enforcement, he became our Chief of Police. I'm sure you can imagine the time commitment and dedication that comes with that job.

Whether it be through his career or philanthropy, he has been dedicated to our community his entire life and I am so proud of him for that.

All that said, my favorite trait of Chris's is his unwavering dedication to our family.

Any parent knows that the role of mom and dad isn't easy, but it is without a doubt the most rewarding challenge we've taken on. He is the kind of Dad I always hoped my kids would have and I love going through this season of life with him.

I say there wouldn't be a Green Roost without him, because without his support at home, I wouldn't be able to devote the time I do to this business. We both have chosen busy, demanding careers and I'd like to think that we have figured out a great balance to make it work for both of us and our family.

Heck, he is even holding down the fort at home when I head to Bali for two weeks next month ;)

Let's see how well I know him...if I had to guess, Chris's favorite things at the shop right now are Mouth Party Caramels, Boody Boxers & Socks, and Chart Metalworks Culpeper Golf Tool. I'll report back and let you know how I did.

If you're local and you see Chris in out and about, make sure you really embarrass him and let him know you read this email. He may act bashful, but he will love it.

Go Hoos!
